Matt's Face!

I played with a portrait I took of my friend Matt when I was taking pictures of he and his pregnant wife a little while back.

This was mostly just a lighting test, but I like the subtle funny expression on his face. It's pretty "Matt" to me.

The second picture is more or less just playing with post processing. I cranked up the sharpness and contrast to get this sort of "pop" out of the image. It's sort of just a fun thing to do.

Hockey!

Local sports is a pretty large part of the job at a newspaper. The smaller the paper, the more often you'll be shooting sports. I had lots of football before and I'm pretty sure I'll be getting basketball/hockey/wrestling more and more now.

These two hockey shots are probably my best of the night. I wish I would have been smarter and tried to shoot from above the glass somewhere, but whatever. The color inside of a rink with thick plexi in front of you gets thrown off. I did some color correction on these shots that I'm sure is obvious.

I had two flashes in the rink, one on each side closer to the goalie so I could get some good charging shots like these, sadly no good goal shots since the team didn't really score any goals.
However, I did get a fall shot. Almost a sequence if I could shoot faster.

Yeah, Just between those two would have been a good picture. Try to imagine it's greatness...
