I made this image in roughly 10 minutes over the series of about 8 attempts. By far this is not the final image. I definately wouldn't figure this image to be the best possible outcome.

From a journalism perspective I guess this is a rather far stretch, but when it comes to things like photo illustrations there are no real boundaries.
The aperture is also pretty up there at F/22. This gave me the ability to grab a very long exposure along with a very nice deep focus so that I wasn't ending up having the background in focus and not the guitar. As long as I got close to the guitar's face, I would have acurate crispness.
I like shooting things like this sometimes just to mix things up. It is suprising how much stuff I use that I picked up from random places. I really like playing with photography to gather up a wealth of knowlege. That's what knowing a trade is all about. Learning it forever. You can't pick everything up just by taking classes. I know definately that I learned more from experience than I did from reading some chapters in a book. It's important to experiment with your equipment to gain your smarts. LEARNING IS GOOD!

On a totally unrelated note, I recently got a job for this summer with a wedding photography company. They are pretty up-scale and I hope I can do my job well enough to stay there for a while. I just want to do work with people that I'll feel happy with, while also making money of course.
Wedding photography isn't too far off from newspaper photojournalism. A lot of wedding photography is documentary work not really far from the standard journalism work. Hopefully I'll either find work that I enjoy greatly or I'll find out that I really need a job at a paper. I guess we'll find out!
Sadly I can't post images from my work there because they own my images and so I don't get copies. What I will try to do is redo some of the stuff that I learn that is interesting along with trying to take some portraits. Summer is coming up and I really hope that I can get some cool portraits churned out when the weather warms up. Until then I'll still work on things to put up here.

You said you'd been playing around with that flashlight a bunch, but I hadn't seen any results until now. Looks pretty awesome! You should think about making one of those commercials... in about 5 years. =)
Larson hired you?!?!?! YAY! I love it! Dammit, I should get some sort of finder's fee or something.
