Another one bites the dust?

Well, another weekend has passed. This one was pretty busy.

I had four assignments on Saturday and "one" on Sunday. I'll explain the quotes later.

Saturday was busy, but cool. First off I went out and shot some soccer. Of course I passed right by the field and didn't think that it was the game and instead just drove like 10 minutes out of town and back for nothing. I was pretty pissed. I forgot to edit the soccer photos so there aren't any at the moment. I got a couple of good close up shots.

After the game I had to head over to a house and take pictures of a family that had quintuplets that were having a five year birthday. It was pretty crazy. I was told by the paper to try to get all five in a shot, but that was near impossible. I really don't know how annoyed the paper is with the photos.

I like this image, it didn't run, it has a sort of kids-eye-view to it, but that's probably just me. I have been shooting with my wide angle lens a lot more lately and I don't know if my shooting has improved from it or not. Tough to say.

After the birthday party I went off to try to find a horse show/competition that was supposed to be going on in town. I didn't really ever see a single horse and I wonder if I was just looking in all the wrong buildings or what. Either way I grabbed a standalone feature shot just to at least come back with something to show for it. I aparently also forgot about this one so I'll toss that up later.

Now the cool stuff. Saturday was the peak of this festival in Ft. Loramie that had some neat stuff going on.

I grabbed a couple of images of a group of older gentlemen threshing and bailing hay when I got there. This was the main thing that I wanted to actually get shots of first. It was one of those guaranteed good moments things.

This was pretty neat of a shot. I had a better one with the guy's face in it, but I wanted to throw this one up to show how close he got to me. This was shot with my wide angle lens so he was probably less than a foot from me with that pitch fork.

Kids throwing hay bails up onto stacks. Crazy amount of work for kid. They were only around nine and were doing pretty hard work.

I had been looking to take this shot for a while. I like the idea and I'm sure it's been done to the billionth degree, but I wanted to get it. This was the last thing I shot at the festival and at this point I was exhausted. I just happened to see this guy and his wife carrying flowers out of their truck and took a few shots before he really noticed/cared.

Sunday. Well, the actual event that I shot on Sunday wasn't really that exciting. Later in the day however, things got interesting. We had 40 mph winds which really gave our area a beating. There were trees and power lines down everywhere. I grabbed a couple of shots of the stuff we heard about.

This was just neat. A canoe in a drive in theater parking lot. The wind had blown it out of someone's yard and into the lot. It was stuck against that pole for a while, but I think it had moved when I drove by it a second time.

I really like the shot of the quints birthday. Its a shame they didn't run it. I've definitely had that happen to me before plenty of times over. Sometimes I think paginators/editors wouldn't know a great picture if it bit them.

Keep up the good work!
