I apologize for the size of the images in this post. I have yet to purchase photoshop for this new macbook that I got so editing images has become a task in which I must go to an outside source to accomplish. It's a pain in the butt.

The second assignment that I covered at the paper was joining my editor Erin on a trip to a small festival in a town near Sidney. Basically it's just a feature hunt to find an image that reflected the event in some way.

This image was just something I wanted to do with the great light that was going on. I love when I get a chance to shoot during the "sweet spot" of the day. If the sun is rising or if it's setting, you're going to get a better image. It's just that easy!

The other big deal that I got to shoot was a festival in yet another town near Sidney. This was pretty cool to go to, but really strange to shoot in general. I just couldn't find people doing things that were real moments. Most of the people I saw were just milling about looking at stuff and that is really not an interesting image.

Obviously this event contained some rural life. Basically the festival was a celebration of the Midwestern settlement life and all of the things that people did and made during that era.

There was of course some of the standard festival stuff like the above. Jugglers doing juggling and such. These guys were pretty funny. They are actual brothers and they made a lot of jokes at each other's expense. The image above is of them posing for a photo taken by a festival goer. They suddenly stopped their show, "Erik, look! A camera! Pose!" It was really funny.

Last stuff was a bull rider that got the high score for the day. I just wanted to shoot something easier near the end because I had been walking through 90 degree heat for 3 hours. At the end I just wanted to get the heck out of there and get into a cold building.

Alright, that's it for today. Next time will hopefully come soon.
